From the perspective of “different”, the degree of development of the two industries is significantly different from that of the market. China's maternal and child industry started in the 1990s. From 2000 to 2009, the maternal and child industry entered a stage of rapid development, from retail to hypermarkets and convenience stores. At this stage, the online shopping platform developed rapidly; from 2010 to 2015, the maternal and child industry entered a period of growth. Major online shopping malls have been operating maternal and child supplies, and the integrated e-commerce platform has become the main mode of online shopping for maternal and child products. After 2015, the maternal and child industry has entered a mature stage, and the online and offline industries have jointly created the maternal and child industry.
The pet industry benefited from the golden decade between 2004 and 2014. In the past 10 years, the Chinese pet market has achieved rapid growth, and there are also basic industrial chains such as pet food, supplies, beauty care, and pet hospitals. The maternal and child industry broke through 2.7 trillion in 2017, while the pet industry's market size in 2017 was 134 billion yuan, only 1/20 of the maternal and child industry.
